OUR LADY OF GOOD HOPE

Our Lady of Good Hope parish in Fort Wayne, Indiana, had completed renovations to their sanctuary and were interested in installing a mosaic behind the tabernacle, above the Altar of Repose.

Our studio was contacted and asked to create a design for the space provided. In our design, the grapevine and leaf, on its own, is an emblem of Christ and follows from his words; “I am the true vine”. We presented the parish with the grapevine and leaf design, set against a gold background, with the movement of the vines framing the space for the existing tabernacle and vigil lamp.

Using gold and colored smalti pieces, the mosaic was made utilizing the direct method in order to give movement to the mosaic and create a flickering effect in the gold background.
